* Concerned about voter fraud? Learn from a former ACORN employee (and nationally known whistleblower) on how it is done. Then follow that with a session from the Heritage Foundation on strategies of what to do about it.

* The Federal Reserve is on everyone's mind. First, learn about what the Fed does, the economic theory behind it, and the tools available. Then, participate a panel discussion moderated by a university professor featuring the president of the John Birch Society and two portfolio wealth managers. We won't tell you what to think, we will instead have varied opinions presented so you can confidently make up your own mind!
* ObamaCare is on everyone's mind. First, you can find out from the Buckeye Institute on what its impact is on the Ohio Budget. Next learn from a practicing orthopedic surgeon on why ObamaCare should be repealed. Then, a panel discussion where all of these experienced professionals answer your questions.
* Is Global Warming the fraud of all frauds? Learn from a uniquely qualified individual (doctorate in Optometry and a statistician expert) who will use the published statistics by the UN Global Warming Commission and show you how they are purposely misleading the world.
* Are we a capitalist nation? Are we moving toward socialism? What about this hybrid of government rewarding businesses who in turn give support the politicians? Our speaker is a wealth planner, is in the process of buying a bank, and has a weekly radio show on Toledo's top radio station.

More goodies that will be taught at this convention.

Jennifer Rubin is delusional.

The Tea Party has long made attempts--ineffective and tone-deaf attempts, but I believe heartfelt ones--to get African Americans interested in their movement. They have done this primarily by inviting black conservatives to speak, getting black artists to perform, etc.

This has been ineffective as hell, and the Tea Party remains an exceedingly melanin-deprived movement. Black people on stage, but none in the audience. I think there are three reasons for this. First, the TPers aren't peddling anything that speaks to most African Americans. Secondly, they ARE peddling some stuff that most ethnic minority groups are able to readily unpack as problematic--ie, "We want our country baaaack" means "Baaaack the way it was when we, the white middle class, had more special rights."

Finally, the Tea Party was born, and continues, largely as an attack on Barack Obama. I live and teach in a heavily black community, and I can't quite describe the emotional high people were on when the election came through. Even if people are critical of this or that aspect of Obama's performance, the pure emotional significance of a black guy in the Oval remains intense. The TPers are basically running on Barack Obama being the devil. That's gonna be a haaard sell.

Not to mention the fact that it is a Republican movement, no matter how hard they show off their couple of 'Democrats', and since a near-totality of the African American voter block goes Democrat, it's hard to see how they expect to get more than a handful of converts there.

Jennifer Rubin is delusional.

Yeah, she writes for Human Events, PJM and Big Journalism. Just another wingnut using the few blacks in the Tea Party movement to whitewash the racism.

Most of the non white people attending will be paid speakers.

Rubin seems to me to be using faulty logic here. "The Tea Party has black members so ergo it can't be racist." The Democrats are quite more diverse a party but has that stopped TP party members and sympathizers from labeling them as racists? I don't think every single member of the Tea Party is racist but there seems to me that there are many members of the TP who have a big problem with race and I think many of the sings and rhetoric we've seen and heard vouch for that.

My great fear is that the Tea Party movement will fade into disgruntled background noise before it has finished destroying the Republican Party.

I will do them the courtesy of assuming that they wouldn't take the money if they absolutely despised the TPers.
